Inspired Women Inspire

Since its founding in 1991, Women Build has worked to involve more women in the construction of Habitat for Humanity homes. In 2024, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity marked a major milestone when its two female site managers led the first all-women construction day.

To expand the reach of this initiative, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity is hosting a Women Build Night Market—a community event that highlights local artists, vendors, and inspiring female speakers from leadership and skilled trades. This event is designed to introduce more people to Women Build and celebrate the power of women in construction. Join the fun on May 9, from 5-8PM at the STAR Center in Tacoma.

 

Our short-term goal is to dedicate one day each month for female-identifying individuals to learn construction skills in a welcoming, inclusive, and women-led environment. Our long-term vision is even bigger: to fund an annual House Built by Women.

We’re aiming to raise $40,000 to kick-start this vision. Your support will help create opportunities for women to gain hands-on experience, build confidence, and grow into community leaders.
