Everyone Deserves a Decent Place to Live

With cooperation from people from all walks of life, Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity partners with families in need to build and own decent and affordable homes in safe communities.

More than a roof, we believe home is just the beginning—a strong foundation for vibrant communities, a stable financial future for generations, and a healthy place for a family and children to grow.

As active participants in building a better future for themselves, and their families, Habitat homebuyers get a hand up, not a handout. In addition to making a minimal down payment and affordable mortgage payments, homeowner families are required to commit to at least 200 hours of sweat equity, building their own home and the homes of other Habitat families.

Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

Building Brighter Futures

"My kids are going to see that since we own our own house, they should own their own house too. Each generation will know that owning their house is important - and possible."
