Make a Will to Care for the People You Love

We all have dreams and goals like traveling to breathtaking destinations, learning new skills, or buying that first home. But one of the most important ways to care for your loved ones is to have a clear plan in place for your belongings, finances, and responsibilities.

Creating a will is an act of love. It ensures that your wishes are honored and that your family and friends won’t be left with difficult decisions or uncertainties during challenging times.

Why everyone 18+ should have a will
You might think you’re too young, don’t have much to pass on, or that it’s something you can handle “later.” But putting your wishes in writing prevents confusion and ensures your property, keepsakes, and meaningful items go exactly where you want them to.

Without a will, decisions about your assets and belongings may be made by the courts, often in ways that don’t reflect your personal wishes.

How to start

  1. Choose a trusted executor. This person will manage your estate and carry out your instructions.

  2. Select your beneficiaries. These are the people or causes you want to receive your property—family, friends, or organizations close to your heart.

  3. If you’re a parent, you can name a guardian to care for your children, ensuring they are looked after by someone you trust.

  4. If you have pets, you can designate a loving caretaker so they always have a safe home.
