Habitat for Humanity has three main criteria:

Many different things can contribute to the need of a household. Examples include: overcrowded living space, living with family or friends, high rent payments, and unsafe or unhealthy environments.

Ability to Pay

At Habitat we want our partner households to be successful in homeownership. While we do not have a minimum income, our homes have a housing cost* of approximately $1,000 a month. Prospective homeowners will need to pre-qualify for a fixed interest rate 30 year mortgage from an FDIC or DFI insured lender.

Willingness to Partner

Habitat for Humanity forms partnerships with households. This partnership includes volunteering 200+ total “Sweat Equity” hours building your prospective home and community. Through these volunteer hours you have the opportunity to get to know the community and learn valuable homeownership lessons that will serve you many years into the future.

If you feel you meet the above criteria give us a call at 253-627-5626 or email** us at and request an information booklet and RSVP for one of our information sessions today!

*Housing cost contains the full mortgage payment (Principal, Interest, Taxes, Insurance), in addition to any housing association dues.*

**Please do not share vital personal information (e.g., annual income, pay rate, credit score, family size, employment history, or information relating to a lender application) when contacting Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity by email.**
