SUMMARY:Women Build: Painting Basics
DESCRIPTION:Kick off the 2021 Women Build Workshop series with Painting Basics\, led by Caitie\, on Wednesday\, January 6 at 4:30 PM PST. \nIn this interactive Q&A workshop\, Caitie will cover different types of paint\, how to prep for various projects\, and tips for success. \nClick here to register for this virtual\, online session. All are welcome! \n\nMeet the Instructor: Caitie\nAfter graduating from University of Mary Washington in Virginia with a degree in biology\, Caitie served two AmeriCorps terms as a Construction Site Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity\, first in Delaware then in Tacoma. Following her AmeriCorps term in Tacoma\, Caitie became a construction trainer for Goodwill’s YouthBuild program. Now living on the east coast\, Caitie works as a Construction Site Manager for a Habitat affiliate in North Carolina. \nCaitie continues volunteering with Women Build because she is passionate about teaching and empowering individuals\, especially women and young people. She believes that creating a safe environment to learn\, ask questions\, and make mistakes helps people develop new skills as well as the confidence to use them.

Her skill in leading conversations around difficult topics comes from her formal education in developmental psychology and human biology\, and her experience as a supervisor in the male dominated world of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. Krystle has been invited to participate in multiple innovative projects at the City and Federal level\, including being invited by Tacoma’s Mayor Victoria Woodards to be a core team member of Mayor Woodards’ Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative.
