DESCRIPTION:Interested in volunteering with Tacoma Habitat? \nNew volunteers must attend a virtual New Volunteer Orientation prior to their first shift. \nDuring the orientation\, you will be asked to provide your email address and birth date for a background check. Following a successful background check\, you will have access to VolunteerHub\, our scheduling software\, and you will be able to schedule yourself for volunteer shifts in either construction or one of our Habitat Stores. \nPlease note: \n\nHabitat is unable to sign off on court-ordered community service hours.\nAll volunteers must be 16 or older.\n\n To register for orientation and get the Zoom link\, please click here.

SUMMARY:First Time Homebuyer Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity and Fairway Mortgage for the Washington State Housing Finance Commission class for first time homebuyers*. This class is key to preparing for homeownership—whether with Habitat for Humanity or on the open market. \nTaught by Jay Staples of Fairway Mortgage and Deena Giesen of Tacoma Habitat\, the two-day class will be held via Zoom from 5:00-7:30 PM each day. Both days are required for certification. \nIn addition to completing the Washington State Housing Finance Commission’s First-time Homebuyer’s Class*\, we will cover the importance of a monthly spending plan\, how to get out of debt\, and strategies to save for homeownership.
