DESCRIPTION:Beyond the Backyard\, a new Habitat Challenge\, is part scavenger hunt and part double-dog-dare. \nIn this COVID-safe\, family-friendly adventure race\, teams race to complete 24 wild challenges in the categories of  PHYSICAL\, FIND\, SKILL and FUN. Visit our FAQs for all the details on how the race works. \nSuited for all ages and stages\, this quest is made for athletes and fun-seekers of all ability levels.  \nRace entry is $25/person and teams then raise or self-pledge $300 to benefit Tacoma Habitat’s affordable homeownership and foreclosure prevention programs.  (Entry fees count toward the team goal\, so if you have 4 people register\, you’re 1/3 there.) \nBeyond the Backyard is a unique fundraiser for these times\, as the competition is run in your community. There’s no gathering. It’s just you\, your team\, and the space around you. You can contain it to your immediate family and your own block\, or expand out to include some close friends and your city. Following her AmeriCorps term in Tacoma\, Caitie became a construction trainer for Goodwill’s YouthBuild program. Now living on the east coast\, Caitie works as a Construction Site Manager for a Habitat affiliate in North Carolina. \nCaitie continues volunteering with Women Build because she is passionate about teaching and empowering individuals\, especially women and young people. She believes that creating a safe environment to learn\, ask questions\, and make mistakes helps people develop new skills as well as the confidence to use them.

Following her AmeriCorps term in Tacoma\, Caitie became a construction trainer for Goodwill’s YouthBuild program. Now living on the east coast\, Caitie works as a Construction Site Manager for a Habitat affiliate in North Carolina. \nCaitie continues volunteering with Women Build because she is passionate about teaching and empowering individuals\, especially women and young people. She believes that creating a safe environment to learn\, ask questions\, and make mistakes helps people develop new skills as well as the confidence to use them.

DESCRIPTION:Public health concerns may stop us from breaking bread together at Hotel Murano\, but we know the hearts of Habitat friends will still rally to celebrate with us on Tuesday\, March 2\, 2021 for our annual Changing Lives Luncheon. \nWe are working on building a fantastic\, virtual program for you to stream from your conference room\, home office\, and/or your car – wherever your spend your lunch hour.  We will share inspiring stories from Habitat homeowners\, and hear from CEO Maureen Fife about what’s on the horizon with regards to the housing crisis and what Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity plans to do in response – just like we always do. \nPlease save Tuesday\, March 2 and register to join us for a wonderful lunch-in starting at noon.
