Collegiate Challenge

Students from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA and East Carolina University in Greenville, NC work at Tacoma's Ainsworth Vista neighborhood in March 2012.

Each spring, TPC Habitat for Humanity participates in a special build called Collegiate Challenge, where college students from around the country spend their spring break helping us build homes. In recent years, groups from Boston University, California State University, East Carolina University, Linfield College, Minnesota State University, Point Park University, Portland State University, Southern Utah University, Stanford, Texas Tech, and others have joined us for Collegiate Challenge.

Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity's participation in Collegiate Challenge wouldn't be possible without support from the many local churches who house the students, the YMCA which provides use of its facilties, and lunch providers who are needed for every day of Collegiate Challenge.

Students participating in Collegiate Challenge find it a fun and rewarding experience and go back to spread the word about their Habitat experience with friends and family back home, garnering even more volunteers and supporters dedicated to the mission of eliminating poverty housing in their own communities.
