The goal of NRI is to revitalize neighborhoods through projects like the September 2011 'Clean and Green' that cleaned up this area in Tillicum.
Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative (NRI) is a program that focuses on revitalizing existing homes and neighborhoods. The goal is to bring new life and pride to a neighborhood through a variety of community building projects.
Through our involvement in NRI, TPC Habitat for Humanity hopes to provide residents with the resources, supplies, and volunteers. We offer 0% interest loans to qualified homeowners to perform minor exterior repairs and landscaping, as well as larger critical home repair projects.
NRI is driven by input from community stakeholders using a variety of engagement pieces including resident surveys, focus groups, and property assessments that help tailor our plan to the neighborhood. TPC Habitat for Humanity participates as a member of the community groups and provides expertise, advocacy, and resources to improve the quality of life for neighborhood residents.
In addition to home repair, TPC Habitat for Humanity will build nearly 30 homes in the NRI service area of Tillicum. We have begun construction on our first two homes and, through cooperation with the community, have obtained numerous properties affected by years of disrepair.
In December 2011, TPC Habitat for Humanity completed its first NRI critical home repair project for a long-time Tillicum resident. We also participated in the Tillicum Clean and Green, a clean-up and restoration project that took place in September 2011.
