Donations to the Store

What types of donations will the Habitat Store accept?

The Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Store accepts donations of new or gently used building materials, furniture, appliances, and hardware that are clean and in 100% working condition.

Your donation to the Habitat Store is tax-deductible. In addition, by donating items to the Store you are providing our community with a source of low-cost goods while also reducing the quantity of material going into landfills.

You may drop off your donations during business hours or arrange for a free pick up. Please email the Store or call 253-779-8149 if you have questions about donations or to schedule a pick up.

Note: Due to restrictions set in place by the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act that went into effect January 4, 2014, the Habitat Store is no longer able to accept the following products: kitchen faucets, bathroom sink faucets, dishwashers, water heaters, pipes and pipe fittings leading to the above, plumbed-in appliances (e.g., coffee makers), or fire hydrants. We appreciate your understanding.

In addition, the Store is unable to accept these items:

  • Used Toilets
  • Paint
  • Loose Tile
  • Chemicals
  • Baby Furniture
  • Mattresses or Box Springs
  • Hide-A-Beds
  • Futons
  • Aluminum Windows
  • Exercise Equipment
  • Blinds

Items we always love to receive include:

  • Cabinets - Must have all drawers and doors attached with no water damage

  • Vanities - Must have all doors and drawers attached; no damage; if counter top and sink are attached they must be in good condition

  • Sinks
  • Doors
  • Tools - Power tools must be in working condition

  • Furniture - Clean, with no rips or tears

  • Lighting
  • Antiques and Collectibles
  • Appliances (please call for criteria) - Appliances must be clean, in good working condition, and have all parts

  • Household items - Dishes, pictures, lamps, etc. (call if in doubt)

  • Paint Supplies - Unused brushes, trays, etc.; but unfortunately not paint

When in doubt as to whether or not we can take your donation, please call us (253-779-8149). Our donation needs change with our inventory.

All proceeds from items donated to the Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Store go straight toward funding our mission of eliminating poverty housing in our community. Thank you for your support!
